"sunday Plus", Congratulations on your achievement! Pakistan is developing a local anti-COVD vaccine known as ‘PakVac’.

Pakistan reported on Monday that it had produced a local vaccine, PakVac, with the assistance of China’s Cansino Bio and that it had passed stringent quality control tests. Is this a significant victory in the battle against the novel coronavirus? Yes, absolutely!

Dr Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health, wrote on his official Twitter account, “Congratulations to the NIH (National Institute of Health) Pak team and its leadership for good fill/finish (from concentrate) of the Cansino vaccine with the aid of Cansino Bio Inc. China.”

In February, the country began a vaccination campaign with doses provided by the Chinese government. The campaign started with the vaccination of frontline healthcare staff, followed by the injection of senior citizens in the second phase.

‘On a single day, more than 250,000 people received COVID vaccine.

In March, Pakistan began a vaccination campaign for the general public, beginning with the elderly. The campaign started with an emphasis on the community’s oldest residents, usually those over 80. People over the age of 30 in Pakistan have now begun to be vaccinated. So far, more than five million citizens in the world have been immunised against COVID-19.

On Monday, more than 250 thousand people received the COVID vaccine for the first time in a single day.

Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said in a tweet that registered citizens should go to the vaccination centres as soon as possible to get vaccinated. “Those who need a second dose of vaccine must come and do so as soon as possible,” he said.

Sadly, in the last 24 hours, Pakistan has seen another 92 deaths and 2,253 new COVID-positive incidents.

According to the National Command and Operation Center, 46,726 tests were performed during this period, with a positivity rate of 4.82%. The number of people who have died in the world due to the pandemic has now risen to 20,400.
