The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is finally showing renewed focus on its future stars, as the Pakistan Shaheens gear up for an exciting double tour to England and Australia. With eyes on long-term player development and international exposure, the Shaheens will first travel to England in July before heading straight to Darwin, Australia, for the Top End T20 Series in mid-August.

For fans who’ve been asking when the next crop of Pakistani cricketers will get serious opportunities abroad, this is great news. The Shaheens, often considered the “A” team or feeder side to the national squad, have long needed consistent exposure in challenging foreign conditions. This summer’s back-to-back tours aim to do just that.

Preparations begin with a training camp in Karachi from July 10, where shortlisted players from the current Skills Development Camp will focus on fitness, T20 strategies, and adapting to England’s and Australia’s vastly different climates and pitches.

Last year, the Shaheens made a solid impression in the Darwin-based Top End T20 Series, going toe-to-toe with regional Australian teams and international sides. Their likely return this year, from August 14 to 24, has already created a buzz. The tournament will feature four teams, with Nepal officially confirmed so far. Organizers are reportedly eager to bring the Shaheens back, given their strong performances and fan following.

Darwin’s unique conditions—humid weather and bouncy, lively pitches—offer the kind of test that can be career-defining for young players. For those hoping to break into the senior national team, tournaments like these are crucial stepping stones.

The PCB’s renewed interest in the Shaheens comes at a critical time. With the next T20 World Cup cycle now underway, Pakistan needs a wider, well-prepared player pool. Keeping the Shaheens active and challenged throughout the year is a step in the right direction.

If confirmed, the Shaheens’ participation will not only bring competitive cricket but also unite the vibrant Pakistani community in Australia, who are expected to turn up in large numbers to support the green shirts.
