In a significant escalation of tensions between Pakistan and India, the Pakistan Army successfully shot down an Indian spy quadcopter that allegedly violated Pakistani airspace along the Line of Control (LoC), ARY News reported, citing security sources.
According to the report, the incident occurred in the Manaawar area of the Bhimber sector, where the quadcopter was conducting reconnaissance operations. Security officials said the aerial intrusion was swiftly countered, showcasing the vigilance and preparedness of Pakistan’s armed forces. They described the downing of the spy device as further evidence of the military’s commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty against any foreign aggression.
This latest episode follows the tragic Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, many of whom were tourists. The incident has heightened hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, prompting renewed calls from the international community for calm and dialogue.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern over the rising tensions in the region. In a statement from his spokesperson’s office, Guterres urged both nations to exercise maximum restraint and refrain from any action that might further destabilize the situation. He reiterated the UN’s readiness to support any initiative, mutually agreed upon by both parties, aimed at reducing tensions and fostering peace through dialogue.
In response to the Pahalgam tragedy, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the country’s firm stance against terrorism, condemning the attack in all its forms. He offered Pakistan’s willingness to engage in any neutral, transparent, and credible investigation into the incident. Sharif criticized India’s response, accusing it of exploiting the situation through baseless allegations without verifiable evidence.
“This blame game must come to a grinding halt,” the Prime Minister stated, emphasizing the need for a responsible and evidence-based approach to such sensitive issues.
As military alert levels rise and diplomatic friction increases, the international community watches closely, hoping both sides can step back from confrontation and move towards meaningful dialogue to ensure regional stability.
