Meesha Shafi, the Pakistani singer who accused singer-actor Ali Zafar of sexual harassment in 2018. And sparked the #MeToo movement in Pakistan, denies reports that she has sentenced to prison.
According to media reports, Meesha Shafi sentenced to three years in prison after singer Ali Zafar filed a defamation lawsuit against her.
Meesha shared a Daily Mail report on her Instagram account. Claiming that she had sentenced to a fake arrest. Sexual assault victims find it difficult to come forward because of the negative consequences, according to the singer.
Meesha Shafi, on the other hand, recently debunked the claim on Instagram, writing. “Speaking up is even harder than harassed.”
Her lawyer, Asad Jamal, also clarified that the trial court had yet to reach a decision.
Another day has arrived. Another deception campaign is underway. It’s more difficult to speak up when you’re harassed. This is why so many people suffer alone. Sending strength and support to all those who speak out and put their lives on the line to ensure a better future for all.
She later shared two more photos of herself with the captions “Keep that crown chakra lit up!” and “Here’s a picture of me not going to jail, suckers!” Have faith in the face of adversity.”
In 2018, she spoke out about Ali’s alleged sexual harassment in a Twitter post. “Ali Zafar, a colleague from my industry, has subjected me to sexual harassment of a physical nature on several occasions. These occurrences did not occur when I was young and new to the industry. Even though I am a strong, accomplish woman is known for speaking her mind. This happened to me.
Following her, eight more women came forward to accuse Ali Zafar of sexual harassment.
Ali, on the other hand, has categorically denied all allegations and has filed defamation lawsuits against both women.
“Meesha Shafi has accused me of harassment, which I categorically deny. Rather than making any accusations here, contesting personal vendettas on social media, and disrespecting the movement, my family, the industry, and my fans, I intend to take this to the courts of law and address this professionally and seriously. ‘’ says Ali Zafar.
