A 15-year-old girl was allegedly set on fire for her cousin’s resistance to rape on Wednesday.
The police report says the suspect put the clothes of his cousin on fire. As a result, the victim’s legs were severely burnt.
Rescue 1122, after the initial medical care, rushed her to a hospital.
A widow, Saira Asad, filed a case regarding the incident. She said that she went to work when Wasim, a suspect who was her close relative, found in his house her fifteen-year-old daughter alone and tried to rape her.
Saira said, “The accused slapped her and fired her legs when my daughter resisted. Then the suspect escaped from the scene.”
When the plaintiff’s neighbors Mohammad Shahid and Owais informed him, a rescue team arrived at the site and took the girl to the hospital. The police have recorded a suspect case under sections 376 (rape penalty), 436 (fire malice). and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit punishable offenses with imprisonment for life)
The suspect is the girl’s maternal cousin, and he is being raided to arrest him, according to SHO City Jaranwala Inspector Rana Asghar. The suspect’s motorcycle and mobile phone have been confiscated, and he works in a Jaranwala bookshop. CPO Sohail Chaudhry, meanwhile, took note of the matter and formed teams led by DSP Jaranwala to arrest the suspect.
Minor kid attacked
In a similar incident earlier this year, on 12 February, a six-year-old boy was allegedly wounded following the assailants’ attempt to rape him. Four people, among them a police officer, wounded the boy during the alleged attempted molestation. The boy was transferred to a nearby hospital, where physicians said his condition was critical.
Cases 341, 506, 377B, and 34 of the PPC were registered, and police started to search the suspect. A constable deported in Muridwala and his accomplices Kashif Shaukat and Amjad said the child was stopped on the way.
The father of the young man said that Wasif Rehman, Asif Shabbir, Subhan Ashiq, Liaquat Ali, and other people gathered on the scene after hearing the shouts of his son. The suspects were threatening to kill them and escaped.
A week earlier, a kid was found dead after being sexually assaulted for five days in the Chowk Steel Bagh area.
According to the police report, Mustafa’s 15-year-old son was missing from his work at a poultry farm in the area of Raukhanwala.
