French fries are frequently served as a side dish with a variety of meals. They are not only delectable but also an economical way to round out a meal. However, would you spend over Rs30,000 on the world’s most expensive plate of fries? Chef Joe Calderone and corporate executive chef Frederick Schoen-Kiewert created the dish, priced at a whopping $200. That is approximately PKR31,804.

Why is the price so high?

The one-of-a-kind dish features only the finest ingredients, from cage-free French goose fat to 23-karat edible gold dust – all topped with a healthy dose of truffle. Additionally, the fries are made with chunky Chipperbec potatoes from upstate New York.

After blanching, they are cooked three times in batches of cage-free French goose fat for a crisp, crunchy texture. After being toasted in truffle oil and topped with shaved black summer truffles from Italy, the fries are seasoned with Guerande truffle salt, drizzled with truffle oil, and sprinkled with edible gold dust.

Mornay sauce is served alongside the fries and is made by melting copious amounts of truffle butter in a pan. The sauce also contains flour, A2 100 percent cream, and Gruyere truffled Swiss raclette cubes to create a rich, velvety dip reminiscent of fondue. Of course, presentation is critical, which is why the dish is presented on a Baccarat crystal Arabesque plate with a coordinating sauce bowl.
