Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, a Pakistani-Canadian journalist, filmmaker, and activist, has taken Sonya Hussyn to task for previously disparaging Mahira Khan on television.

A three-year-old clip from The After Moon Show was just reshared on Instagram by Grazia Pakistan. The magazine republished comments Hussyn made in a 2018 interview in the post. The actor made an appearance on Yasir Hussain’s After Moon Show.

Asim Azhar and Hussyn were guests in one portion of the broadcast. They were required to immediately respond to a series of questions by selecting from various options offered to them. Hussyn was asked, among other things, which film she would avoid if she were Mahira Khan: Verna, Raees, or Ho Mann Jahaan.

Hussyn ultimately chose Raees. “Is it because you’re not interested in working with Shah Rukh Khan?” inquired the host. “Never,” Hussyn responded. “Working with Shah Rukh Khan was never a dream of mine. I hope that your character is seen and that you are not merely a supporting role to a hero,” she explained.

Chinoy did not appear to agree with Hussyn’s remarks. The Academy Award-winning filmmaker chastised the actress for her choice of words. Additionally, she claimed that such remarks reflect negatively on an individual’s upbringing. She responded in the comments area of the digital publication’s post. “Do not believe you will ever be Mahirah Khan, as this will prevent you from ever being able to say no – do not disparage other women in the profession, as this reflects poorly on you and your upbringing,” she added.

Hussyn made her acting debut in the 2011 series Dareecha, playing a supporting part. In addition, she has starred in various popular Urdu television shows, including Mujhay Sandal Kar Do, Mein Hari Piya, Mere Hamrahi, and Shikwa.

Last week, the Shikwa actor was accused of bullying Mathira, a model and cum presenter. Mathira stunned the world when she revealed how she was humiliated by the famed actor for being mistaken for a “she-male.”

“You may be a rockstar or a diva, but I’m sorry if you have a nasty mentality that abuses others and is unaware of their error; I’m sorry you’re just trash,” Mathira stated. However, Hussyn later called Mathira to address her post. It’s worth noting that Hussyn herself was frequently ridiculed for her fashion choices.
