American singer Britney Spears declared in an enlightening Instagram post that she would never go back into the music business, ending speculation of a new album.

To be honest, much of the news is garbage, Britney said on Instagram on Thursday. They keep stating that for my next record, I’m going to work with unexpected people. I’m never going back to work in the music business! I write for enjoyment or other people when I write! There are a lot of things about myself that even those of you who have read my book are unaware of.”

According to Variety, the pop singer seemed to be reacting to reports that surfaced early on Wednesday morning regarding Spears potentially hiring composer Julia Michaels and singer Charli XCX for an unannounced record—her first in more than ten years.

Michaels and Spears have already worked together, however it’s unclear exactly what they worked on together.

Variety claims that Michaels contributed to the song “Slumber Party,” which can be found on Spears’ most recent studio album, “Glory,” as a co-writer. The script was also authored by Justin Tranter, Robin Fredriksson, and Mattias Larsson.

Then, Spears identified herself as a “ghostwriter,” i.e., someone who writes for other artists under her own name, adding that she “honestly [prefers] it that way.”

She also addressed the allegations that she was not given permission for the publication of her book, The Woman in Me. In its first week of sales, the book went on to become a national best-seller, moving over 1.1 million print, pre-sale, e-book, and audiobook copies.

“In the last two years, I’ve written over 20 songs for other people,” she continued. I genuinely love my work as a ghostwriter! People are also claiming that my book was illegally released without my consent, but that is untrue. Have you seen the headlines lately? I’m really fortunate and loved!”

The vocalists’ most recent hits are “Mind Your Business,” a joint effort with Will, and “Hold Me Closer,” a 2022 duet with Elton John. The latter was first recorded for the 2013 album by Britney Jean. (ANI)
