Actress Meera Sethi, daughter of senior journalist and former PCB chairman Najam Sethi, has finally spoken about her divorce after keeping silent for more than two years. In a heartfelt conversation, she confirmed that her marriage with Bilal Siddiqui ended in March 2023, almost two and a half years ago.
Meera, who is also the sister of famous singer Ali Sethi, shared that the decision and its aftermath were not easy. At the time of separation, she was busy shooting a drama, yet she had to manage both her work and personal struggles. “It was a very difficult phase,” she admitted, “but I was lucky to receive love and support from people around me.”
A Personal Struggle Turned Public
For a long time, Meera avoided talking about her private life. But now, she feels the time has come to share her story, especially because many women go through the same challenges. She remembered a line from one of her old dramas: “A divorced woman becomes a thorn for society.”
She explained that while such thinking was common in the past, today things are changing. More women in the media industry are now speaking openly about divorce, which helps break old taboos. By confirming her divorce, Meera hopes to show courage and honesty, while also giving strength to others in similar situations.

Life After Separation
Talking about the emotional side, Meera said separation leaves deep marks on a person. It is never easy for any woman, as it affects not only her lifestyle but also her sense of self. Even after two and a half years, she continues to reflect on her journey and how it has shaped her relationship with herself and the world.
Despite the pain, Meera is focusing on moving forward with resilience. She believes that being open about struggles helps women connect with each other and understand they are not alone.
A Love Story That Once Inspired
Meera and Bilal’s wedding in November 2019 had captured attention both in Pakistan and abroad. The couple tied the knot in San Francisco, and their pictures quickly went viral on social media. Their love story began years earlier when they studied together at Oxford University.
However, like many relationships, theirs could not survive the test of time. While the marriage ended, Meera looks back at it as a part of her life that taught her valuable lessons.
