Emraan Hashmi, while discussing his upcoming OTT show “Showtime” in a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, revisited the controversial episode of Koffee with Karan where he labeled Aishwarya Rai as ‘plastic.’ Reflecting on the infamous rapid-fire round, Emraan shared insights into Karan Johar’s reaction and the aftermath of his candid comment.
Hashmi clarified that his portrayal on “Showtime” is that of a fictional character who speaks candidly. Addressing the Koffee with Karan incident, he recalled how, after calling Aishwarya Rai ‘plastic,’ there was a stunned silence on set. Karan Johar, the host, even questioned whether the comment could be retained. However, some individuals behind the scenes affirmed that it should be kept.

The actor explained that his statements were in line with the show’s format, emphasizing that he admired Aishwarya and didn’t intend any disrespect. In a 2014 interview with Hindustan Times, Emraan expressed, “I didn’t mean it. I’m a big fan of Aishwarya. It’s the format of the show. I can’t not say things and not win the hamper. I love her. I have always been a great admirer of her work.
