Hashmi clarified that his portrayal on “Showtime” is that of a fictional character who speaks candidly. Addressing the Koffee with Karan incident, he recalled how, after calling Aishwarya Rai ‘plastic,’ there was a stunned silence on set. Karan Johar, the host, even questioned whether the comment could be retained. However, some individuals behind the scenes affirmed that it should be kept.

The actor explained that his statements were in line with the show’s format, emphasizing that he admired Aishwarya and didn’t intend any disrespect.
