Renowned Indian tennis champion Sania Mirza has officially confirmed her divorce from Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, stating that they have been separated “for a few months now.” This revelation comes just a day after Malik announced his marriage to actor Sana Javed on Instagram.

Mirza and Malik tied the knot in April 2010, celebrating their union with ceremonies in both Pakistan and India. The couple welcomed their first child in 2018.

Sania Mirza’s father, Imran, shared a statement addressing the matter: “Sania has always kept her personal life away from the public eye. However, today the need has arisen for her to share that Shoaib and she have been divorced for a few months now. She wishes Shoaib well for his new journey ahead!”

Highlighting the sensitivity of the situation, the statement also urged fans and well-wishers to refrain from speculation and respect Mirza’s need for privacy.

Despite ongoing rumors, Mirza had not previously addressed the status of her marriage. Cryptic messages about marriage on her Instagram account hinted at the challenges she may have been facing. Notably, both Mirza and Malik were seen together at their son Izhaan’s fifth birthday party in Dubai a few months earlier.

Shoaib Malik and actor Sana Javed surprised social media with the announcement of their marriage on Instagram. It’s worth noting that neither party, at the time of the announcement, had publicly confirmed their respective divorces.
