Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has come under scrutiny for donning a Gucci hat, reportedly worth over one lakh Pakistani Rupees (PKR), during a recent rally in Nankana Sahib, Punjab. The extravagant cost of the hat has stirred controversy, with some observers also noting that the color of the stripes on the cap resembles the flag of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
Pakistani netizens, expressing their disapproval, highlighted the exorbitant price by sharing a compilation of receipts and invoices related to Nawaz Sharif’s Gucci accessory. The controversy has gained traction in the midst of Pakistan’s economic crisis, marked by soaring prices of essential commodities such as fuel, electricity, and food.
This incident is not the first time the former Prime Minister has found himself embroiled in such controversies. In 2023, Nawaz Sharif reportedly faced confrontation from a Pakistani woman while shopping at London’s upscale Harrods department store.
As the 2024 general elections loom, Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), who returned to his home country in October 2023 after four years of exile in London, unveiled the party’s election manifesto on Saturday.
