Charles O’Rear captured this image in 1996 while travelling to Napa Valley in California. The scene depicts a lovely green hill with a pure blue sky and fluffy white clouds, which gives it a serene appearance.

Charles O’Rear later entered into a contract with Corbis in 2000, allowing them to utilise and market his images. The Windows XP operating system, released in 2001, has this “Bliss” image as its default background. Microsoft is a major computer corporation.

The “Bliss” image was viewed by billions of people as a result of the global success of Windows XP. Because this image served as the computer wallpaper at the time, many people had fond recollections of it. It became associated with Windows XP and is adored by many.
