A guy was detained in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province’s Bajaur tribal district after spreading a lie on social media about a British woman visiting the region in search of her Pakistani friend’s partner.

The individual, identified as Mohammad Gulab, stated in a Facebook post that a British woman by the name of Ellah had travelled to Salarzai Tehsil in Bajaur to see her lover, Mohammad Ishaq.

On social media, he also posted a picture of the man and an unrelated picture of a foreign woman.

When the local police heard about it, they rushed to the scene, but the report was false because no British woman had visited the region.

Gulab is then taken into custody by the police and taken to a jail.

Later, the KP police released a statement indicating that Gulab had been charged with violating the relevant cybercrime laws for publishing false information on social media, as doing so is illegal in Pakistan.
