Babar Azam was named the captain of the ICC’s Team of the Tournament for the mega event after leading Pakistan brilliantly in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced Monday, following Australia’s historic T20 World Cup victory.

According to details, the Official ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Upstox Most Valuable Team of the Tournament features players from six teams. However, no Indian cricketer has been named to the cricket governing body’s squad for the first time in history.

David Warner, Adam Zampa, and Josh Hazlewood all cut Australia after guiding their side to their first T20 World Cup title.

There are also places in the line-up for England’s Jos Buttler as a wicketkeeper, Pakistan’s Babar Azam as captain, New Zealand’s Trent Boult, and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga – the tournament’s top wicket-taker.

A selection panel comprised commentators, former international players, and journalists, including Ian Bishop (Convener), Natalie Germanos, Shane Watson, Lawrence Booth – of Wisden, the Daily Mail, and Mail on Sunday Agence France Presse’s Shahid Hashmi.

Ian Bishop commented on the team, saying: “As with any team selection, there will be differing opinions and vigorous debate over the squad’s final composition. The panel recognizes this, and we look forward to the robust debate that will ensue.”

He stated that selecting this team was extremely difficult due to the high level of competition throughout the tournament, and selections were made primarily based on the Super 12 through the final.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 squad is as follows (batting order):

David Warner (Australia) – 289 runs at 48.16

Pakistan skipper Babar, So thethe only batter to score 300 runs throughout the competition, captains the side at No 3.
