"sunday plus", Amitabh Bachchan cancels an advertising contract with a tobacco company.

Last month, Bachchan, who was attacked on social media for supporting Kamla Pasand advertisements, canceled his deal with the firm and returned all promotional funds.

The famous Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan announced his departure from the Kamla Pasand pan masala brand advertising campaign on Monday. The action comes on the eve of his 79th birthday. Moreover, weeks after, the national anti-tobacco organization asked him to desist from sponsoring pan masala because it could help prevent children from developing a tobacco addiction.

Additionally, the actor was mocked on social media for endorsing Kamla Pasand’s advertisements last month. However, Bachchan first defended his attitude, claiming that it was a necessary element of the entertainment industry, which employs many people.

Kamala Pasand” (Kamala Pasand) “— Mr. Bachchan called the brand and withdrew from it last week, just days after the commercial aired. After investigating the reason for this abrupt change, it was discovered that when Mr. Bachchan became connected with the brand, he was unaware that it fell under surrogate advertising. As a result, Mr. Bachchan has canceled his contract with the brand, notified them in writing of his decision, and refunded the money paid for the promotion. “On Monday, Universal Communications released a statement from the actor’s office.

Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn are also brand ambassadors for Vimal Elaichi. Pierce Brosnan, a Hollywood actor, got embroiled in controversy in 2018 after being named brand ambassador for Pan Bahar, a pan masala company. He later admitted that he was duped into supporting a product that the firm failed to warn posed a health risk.

However, another film director stated that Bachchan might have been promised that the advertisement would look specific, but it did not. “Perhaps he realized he had been deceived when he saw the ad. This is frequently the case when attempting to obtain a surrogate, “said the Hindi film director.

In 2020, the pan masala market in India was expected to reach a value of 45,585 crores. However, the market is expected to reach a value of 69,518 crores by 2026, according to research firm IMARC Group.
