The ulema call for public retribution against rapists. Scholars from diverse schools of thought condemned the sexual abuse of a girl child in a Rawalpindi madrasa. They requested that the perpetrators of this terrible crime face quick public prosecution.
According to Dawn newspaper, Pakistan Ulema issued a joint statement following the chairing of a meeting of the Ulema Council, expressing regret over the increase in harassment and abuse of women and children in Pakistan and urging the Prime Minister and Chief Justice of Pakistan to take immediate action against the accused and expedite their trials.
He urged the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), and the Ministry of Information to restrict pornographic websites and advertisements with immoral material on social media platforms.
Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Religious Harmony, presided over the meeting.
According to the joint declaration, everyone from all walks of life should contribute to preserving morality in Pakistani society. Shariah’s regulations are quite plain to both men and women. Cover oneself appropriately and abstain from pornography and nakedness. Additionally, the statement stated that Shariah prohibits men from touching or harassing women.
The joint statement stated that child abuse and harassment are on the rise, and women are in a state of fear, calling everyone from all walks of life, particularly the government and courts, to ban or shut down all accountable means of spreading obscenity and nudity in society.
The consultative meeting was attended by Maulana Asad Zakaria Qasmi, Syed Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Maulana Mufti Muhammad Zia Madani, Allama Arif Wahidi, Allama Abdul Haq Mujahid, Maulana Muhammad Khan Leghari, Maulana Mufti Muhammad Ali Naqshbandi, Maulana Mufti Abdul Sattar, Maulana Abdul Wahab Ropari, and Mau Maulana Pir Asad Habib Shah Jamali, Maulana Muhammad Shafi Qasmi, Maulana Anwar-ul-Haq Mujahid, Mufti Hafeez-ur-Rehman, Maulana Hussain Ahmed, Maulana Qasim Qasmi, and other Ulema were in attendance.
He urged the government, courts, and other segments of society to take immediate steps toward reestablishing social and moral principles.
He urged that those responsible for the Minar Pakistan incident, the Noor Muqaddam case, the harassment of a woman in a rickshaw in Lahore, and harassment in madrasas, schools, and universities face prosecution.
We also urge the government to hang rapists publicly for the welfare of Pakistan by proper investigation.
