Mahoor Shahzad, A Pakistani Badminton Star Awarded a full Scholarship at University of London

Badminton World Federation (BWF) has chosen Mahoor Shahzad, the first-ever Pakistani female badminton champion, for a fully-funded scholarship to the University of London‘s PG Certificate in Sports Management. On Twitter, the 24-year-old announced her new accomplishment.

This is a significant achievement not only for herself but also for Pakistan. Mahoor Shahzad was ranked 149th out of 150 competitors. In 2019, She became the first Pakistani woman to achieve such a high global ranking. Furthermore, for the past five years, this girl has been Pakistan’s National Badminton Champion. She made Pakistan proud once again by announcing her intention to compete in the 2020 Olympics. Shahzad had previously expressed her gratitude to Pakistanis following her internationally recognized victory. So she said that she would not have been able to get this far in her journey without their assistance.

She is the first Pakistani woman to be inducted into the top female badminton players globally, defying all odds. Also, Shahzad’s overall career statistics show that she has racked up over 44 notable victories.

BWF has chosen Mahoor Shahzad for a fully-funded scholarship to study for a PG Certificate in Sports Management at the University of London. So It’s worth noting that 70 applicants were hailing from 35 different nations. But BWF selected her as the best candidate for their only full scholarship!

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the badminton player has brought Pakistan pride through her accomplishments. At the 2017 Pakistan International tournament, Shahzad won the women’s singles with flying colors. She went on to compete in the 2014 Asian Games and the 2018 Commonwealth Games after that.

It’s lovely to see Pakistani women succeeding in a variety of fields, So Pakistani women have demonstrated their intellect in various areas, including sciences, the visual arts, STEM, and sports. Not only that, but the opportunity to compete at an international level, in groups, and as individuals, and to earn top positions.

Nonetheless, Shahzad hopes to inspire females from all over Pakistan to pursue their dreams. Women like her must seek careers in sports.

This young success story still has a long way to go. Shahzad will not be slowing down in her pursuit of some great matches but as shown by her ambitions and determination. We wish her luck in achieving all of her goals so as a result, we congratulate her and wish her every success in the future.
