Shaan-e-Pakistan kicked off the year’s most awaited fashion event. Pakistan’s first-ever Phygitial (held in physical space with digital transmission to the rest of the world). Fashion Summit 2021 in Karachi, which attended by the fashion industry’s who’s who. On Friday, March 5th, the Karachi edition has held at Dolce Vita Lounge, COM3, Clifton.
The event’s red carpet was adorned with notable names and exuded an aura of luxury, style, fashion, and elegance. Following the national anthem, the audience was greeted by host Anoushey Ashraf. Who gave an opening speech, and Ali Tariq performed. Huma Nassr, the CEO and Founder of Shaan-e-Pakistan, later unveiled the ‘Pakistan Kay Dhaagay’ remembrance of the Fashion Summit 2021. She went on to explain the theory behind it, saying:
“Pakistan has renowned for producing high-quality textiles. We work with global fashion giants, and as a result, textile strengthens relations between the United States and the rest of the world. And will continue to bring cultures together as a director of Shaan-e-Pakistan while also highlighting our country’s hospitality. And aim to use textiles to bind people and share iconic visionaries’ dreams for the betterment of Pakistan.”
The Fashion Summit featured in-depth discussions on current issues in Pakistan’s fashion industry. Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, Humayun Alamgir, Sadaf Malaterre, Huma Adnan, Shamaeel Ansari, Farah Talib Aziz, Umar Sayeed, Zoha Danial (representing Ansab Jahangir Studio), Asad Hussain (Director AIFD), Mishayl Naek (Founder Pinky Gul), Sidra Khalid (expressing Ideas by Gul Ahmed), Tanvee
After each discussion, there was an engaging question and answer session. Anoushey Ashraf and Hira Hussain moderated the panel discussions. Huma Adnan, a fashion designer, curated a one-of-a-kind fashion show for the occasion.
“The main goal of fostering Pakistani culture by unwavering efforts has always been part of my journey”, Nassr said at the Summit. But giving back to my community is a top priority for me. And it’s something I’ve taken on as a personal responsibility. However, I am convinced that we will continue to grow higher with each passing day by working together and uniting. From a business standpoint, this will not only help create opportunities for different performers (such as singers, fashion designers, and artists) but it will also expand the industry as a whole.”
“We’ve gathered not only to start a serious conversation about sustainability and responsibility but also to look into the industry of Pakistani fashion and textiles and to learn more about potential customers. We hope that this will develop into a welcoming forum for emerging and established fashion enthusiasts in the United States and internationally. “I, Huma Nassr, am forming a fashion ring and proudly declare that fashion is a more powerful topic than sports,” she continued.
She went on to say, “Pakistan has produced countless legends in various fields such as music, sports, and food, but there are still small gaps that need to be filled”. At Shaan-e-Pakistan, we hope to continue the Fashion Summit in Pakistan’s cities. And explore cross-cultural partnerships with countries such as Turkey, Sri Lanka, and Dubai. Where we will inshAllah invite maestros from the international fashion world to our lovely country. “Pakistan Zindabad!” exclaims the crowd. Hussain Dossa and Shehroze Hussain composed the official music score for the Fashion Summit, Chalta Ja. The setup created with COVID SOPs in mind.
