Abdul Razak Dawood, the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Trade and Investment, said that Pakistan would be added to e-commerce giant Amazon’s list of sellers in the coming days.

Despite Amazon’s presence in neighbouring India, Pakistan has remained off the company’s list of sellers. This is because Pakistani retailers seeking to sell their goods on the marketplace usually register their businesses in other countries to circumvent Pakistan.
On the other hand, Pakistani merchants would be able to sell their goods on the platform with ease once they are added to the list. However, this will have little impact on Pakistani consumers; it will primarily help Pakistani merchants market their goods abroad.
Meanwhile, Dr Shahbaz Gill, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Information, said that the current government had accomplished something that had not been achieved in the country’s last decade.
“Pakistan has been added to Amazon’s list of sellers. Pakistan has now entered the international market as a result of this growth. This would result in billions of dollars in investment and create thousands of jobs. Many thanks, Imran Khan,”‘He said.
In June of last year, the Ministry of Commerce announced that it had shared 38 exporters with Amazon to facilitate trade and expand markets for Pakistani exporters.
The specifics were discussed during the National e-Commerce Council’s second meeting, which examined the implementation of various federal and provincial policies to promote e-commerce.
“At the moment, Amazon has been provided with a list of 38 exporters that is limited to the medical, sporting goods, and home textiles sectors,” the commerce secretary said, adding that the list will be extended to include other sectors shortly.
