Almost all female legislators in the National Assembly, both on the treasury and opposition benches, unanimously demanded the public hanging of all rapists on Friday, Dawn reported .Women members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) made the demand in the National Assembly (PPP).
Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari stated that while the government recently passed a law prohibiting rape, laws alone will not suffice. Our society’s attitude toward women must be altered. The government, she stated, must protect all women because women will no longer tolerate their humiliation and suffering. Mehnaz Akbar Aziz of the PML-N said the killer of Noor Muqaddam should be publicly hanged to prevent future incidents.
“If Pakistan is to be run properly, rapists and killers must be publicly hanged. We will not allow the country to be run in the manner in which it is currently being run,” PTI lawmaker Asma Qadeer said, breaking down in tears as she spoke on the floor of the house.
Asma Qadeer discussed the increasing number of women and children being raped and the recent beheading of Noor Mukadam.
Shamim Ara Panhwar of the PPP stated that in light of rising child abuse and rape of women, there was no other option but to publicly hang rapists and killers.
