A major corruption scandal has surfaced within Islamabad’s National Police Foundation (NPF), revealing the manipulation of a sealed-bid auction for a commercial plot in the prime E-11 sector. The plot, valued at over Rs 1 billion, was allegedly awarded to M/S SMB Services (Pvt) Ltd under dubious circumstances, resulting in a staggering loss of nearly Rs 5 billion to the national exchequer.
Documents suggest that NPF’s Managing Director, in collusion with Shunaid Qureshi, a director of a prominent media outlet, tampered with auction rules to ensure SMB Services’ success. Key eligibility criteria were reportedly altered, and officers opposing the move were transferred. The process blatantly violated NPF’s regulations and legal requirements for open, transparent auctions meant to serve public welfare.
Further irregularities have been uncovered in a 100-bed hospital project, where contracts were allegedly awarded to favored entities, raising concerns about widespread misuse of authority within the organization.
This scandal has triggered nationwide outrage, with demands for accountability and transparency in public land dealings. Critics emphasize the need for stringent oversight to prevent such blatant exploitation of public resources and ensure justice.
