In a nod to pop sensation Taylor Swift and football star Travis Kelce, American Airlines is adding a touch of celebrity flair to its Super Bowl travel options from Kansas City to Las Vegas. Born in 1989, Swift and known for jersey No. 87, Kelce, have become inspirations for flight numbers set to transport sports enthusiasts to the highly anticipated Super Bowl on Feb. 11. In a whimsical press release, the airline expressed, “To our customers who are huge sports fans, look what you made us do.” Alongside the Swift and Kelce flights, there’s also a special departure inspired by quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Flight 1989 is set to take off from Kansas City to Las Vegas twice on February 9 and February 10, both at 12:30 p.m. local time. For the return journey, Flight 87 will depart Las Vegas for Kansas City after the game on February 12 at 12:20 a.m. local time.
Embracing the football fervor, American Airlines announced three flights, each bearing the jersey number 15 in honor of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. On Feb. 8, Flight 15 will embark on its journey from Kansas City to Las Vegas, with the same flight number scheduled for return trips on Feb. 12 and Feb. 13. Additionally, Flight 1521, a combination of Mahomes and safety Mike Edwards’ numbers, will fly from Kansas City to Las Vegas.
